UNI Gallery of Art and UNI Department of Art will present '2009 Department of Art Faculty Exhibition'

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- The University of Northern Iowa Gallery of Art, in association with the UNI Department of Art, will present the "2009 Department of Art Faculty Exhibition" from Monday, Nov. 2 to Monday, Nov. 30.

The opening reception begins at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, in the lobby of Kamerick Art Building (KAB) South.

The exhibition is a formal presentation of painting, drawing, printmaking, graphic design, sculpture, ceramics, metals, photography, mixed media, performance art, installation art and digital art featuring the most recent accomplishments of the faculty in the UNI Department of Art. The exhibition is also an opportunity for students and the public at large to experience current themes in contemporary art and to see first-hand works of art by highly skilled practicing artists, according to Darrell Taylor, director of the UNI Gallery of Art.

Kenneth Hall, assistant professor of art in painting and drawing, is exhibiting with the faculty of the UNI Department of Art for the first time. In December 2008, Hall presented a Gallery Showcase solo mini-exhibition titled "Escape Routes."

Assistant professor of art Erica Duffy Voss' interactive sculpture titled "The Community Crochet Circle" is sponsored in part by Simpson's Rooms 4 Less Outlet, Berry Plastics Corporation and Home Depot. Voss teaches metalsmithing and exhibits her kinetic jewelry and sculpture nationwide.

All events are free and open to the public. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday; and noon to 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday. The Gallery is located at the northeast corner of Hudson Road and West 27th Street, Cedar Falls, on the main floor of Kamerick Art Building South.
