Wednesday, October 28, 2009 UNI Speakers Bureau serves Iowa's communities CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --The University of Northern Iowa Speakers Bureau serves Iowa's communities with more than 200 presentations available to business and civic groups. The Speakers Bureau also includes a 2009-2010 Featured Speakers series showcasing the following presentations:
"Math and Science Education in Iowa: Earning Our Quarter," by Jeff Weld, associate professor, of biology and director of the Iowa Mathematics and Science Education Partnership (IMSEP), discusses the challenges and opportunities in math and science education in Iowa.
"Education in the 21st Century," by Nadene Davidson, assistant professor and interim director of teaching, discusses the need for 21st century skills in today's learning environments and the implementation of the Iowa Core Curriculum.
"Achieving Work-Life Balance," by Adam Butler, professor of psychology, shares tips and research on how to achieve balance in the work place and at home.
"Ten Things You Need to Know About the Economy," by David Surdam, assistant professor of economics, discusses the economic challenges of income tax, social security, government programs, health care and more.
"Solar Power and Impact to our Efforts for National Energy Independence," by Reg Pecen, associate professor of industrial technology, discusses renewable energy initiatives and work to help Iowa achieve energy independence.
