University of Northern Iowa to induct students into Teacher Education Program Nov. 3

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa --The University of Northern Iowa College of Education will host its bi-annual Teacher Education Induction Convocation at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 3, in the Great Hall of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center.

Three hundred sixty-three students have satisfied requirements for admission into the UNI Teacher Education Program and are invited to participate in the official induction of students into the field of study. Gayle Pohl, associate professor of communication studies, will deliver the convocation address. Melissa Heston, interim director of teacher education, will present the candidates. Gloria Gibson, executive vice president and provost, will grant the candidates admission to the teacher education program, and the pinning and affirmation of candidates will be by Heston.

This will be the 38th group of candidates inducted into the Teacher Education program since formal ceremonies began in 1991. UNI faculty, administrators, parents and friends of the candidates are invited to attend. A reception will follow in the GBPAC lobby.
