The American Democracy Project at UNI to host forum Nov. 5

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa -- "Got Civility?" will be the title of a lecture by Senator Jeff Danielson (D) and former Senator John Putney (R), Iowa State Legislature, from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursday, Nov. 5, in Maucker Union's SIAC conference room, as part of the University of Northern Iowa's American Democracy Project (ADP)/Executive Vice President & Provost's Office. The event is free and open to the public.

As evidenced by some of the public forums on health care, public discourse sometimes lacks civility and respect for others. Danielson and Putney will discuss the topic in general and what this means for their work in the Iowa Legislature.

ADP is responsible for initiating a variety of courses, workshops and presentations on topics related to civic engagement on campus. The event is co-sponsored with UNI's Department of Communication Studies, Division of Student Affairs, Leadership Studies Program and Department of Political Science.

For more information, contact Gerri Perreault, co-chair, UNI American Democracy Project and associate professor of leadership studies at (319) 273-6898, YLA@UNI.edu or visit ADP's website at www.uni.edu/adp.
